Nemera expands diabetes device portfolio and prepares for the future

Nemera is a leading designer and leading provider of injectable delivery systems, offering different pen and auto-injector platforms for the treatment of diabetes.

Séverine Duband, Category Director Devices, takes stock of the planned development of the offer: The insulin pen is Nemera’s core business and more than 90% of the volumes produced are used for the treatment of diabetes. The acquisition of Polish company Copernicus in October 2020 allows us to expand our range of insulin pens, disposable or reusable, and we can now offer three diffe-rent, two of which are particulary relevant for diabetes treatments administration. PenDura is a reusable insulin pen platform. Its lateral and automatic activation system gives it greater ergonomics and makes it easier to grip. PenVario is a dis-posable, variable-dose pen that offers a very classic and proven operation. Cost-ef-fective, it is suitable for the generic market. This acquisition allows us to strengthen our expertise in a very competitive market

The first criterion of an insulin pen is that it must be simple in its use to offer autonomy to the patient in all situations, especially outside his home. Its dose counter must also provide visual safety so that the patient is reassured in his gesture.
We are constantly looking at improving the injection force to facilitate the patient’s action. From our reusable injector pen platform, we work on connectivity to capture and record insulin injection data. There are now various connected and connected ecosystem that takes into account all these checkpoints in the treatment of diabetes to enable the patient to better manage its pathology.
