World Health Day 2019!
Today, April 7, is the World Health Day!
What is WHO ?
This is organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), specialised institution of the United Nations
WHO began when the Constitution came into force on 7 April 1948 – a date now celebrate every year as World Health Day. There is more than 7000 people from more than 150 countries working in 150 country offices, in 6 regional offices and at our headquarters in Geneva.
WHO works worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable.
Its goal is to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, to protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being.
World Health Day
Universal health coverage is WHO’s number one goal. Key to achieving it is ensuring that everyone can obtain the care they need, when they need it, right in the heart of the community.
Millions of people still have no access at all to health care. Millions more are forced to choose between health care and other daily expenses such as food, clothing and even a home.
This is why WHO is focusing on universal health coverage for this year’s World Health Day, on 7 April.
The tagline of this event is “Health for all – everyone, everywhere”
